Out and about
Thanks to the Range Community Gym & Fitness Centre (Mapleton) Association for inviting me to their annual general meeting on Monday 9 November. The association recently received a $10,000 Council COVID-19 Community Response Grant towards expanding the gym floor area to allow more participants to stay active and healthy while remaining COVID safe. This area is now open for members within the community to enjoy.
I was very pleased to join the Mapleton Community Library Volunteers group for a morning tea last month. I would particularly like to give a special shout-out and thank you to our wonderful volunteers and community groups in Division 10 who have gone above and beyond this year. I am so proud to call this community home and grateful for all they do.
I recently attended Burnside Neighbourhood Watch’s November meeting, where I presented information about the upgrade to Blaxland Road footpaths. Council will construct a missing link pathway from the bus stop outside 14 Blaxland Road to Carter Road. This will improve access and safety in particular for children as they walk to school. As we head into the holiday season, please also remember to lock-up your house and look out for children who may be playing with neighbours and riding their bikes in our local streets.
Best wishes to you and yours
Council has launched a terrific new campaign for everyone in our community to celebrate the festive season this year. Festive Season in My Neighbourhood encourages people to celebrate good neighbours and connect with one another.
Visit www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/festivekindness for a delightful selection of practical tips and ideas and be sure to tune in to council’s Facebook page, YouTube channel or webpage on Saturday 19 December from 6.30pm to watch the Sunshine Coast Community Carols. You’ll be in for a treat.
Please stay safe these holidays. Season’s Greetings to you and yours.
