Cr Johnston - Thanks for having your say

Thanks for having your say

I would like to express my appreciation to the 225 people who had their say to create a shared vision for Blackall Street, Woombye and the 117 people who had their say to create a shared vision for Rosebed Street, Eudlo.

This community consultation during council’s placemaking efforts in November involved people sharing what they love and what can be improved at these two important locations.

Their feedback is helping council develop recommendations that will inform a draft streetscape design for each town which you will soon be able to provide further comment on.

If you didn’t get involved last time, please consider joining the next phase of consultation.

Nominate a young conservationist

The Les Hall Young Conservationist Award is now open, so if you know a young eco-warrior, I encourage you to recognise their efforts and nominate them.

You can nominate a team or individual who’s striving for change at their school, or going above and beyond to protect a native animal, or using technology to raise awareness about wildlife conservation on the Sunshine Coast.

Nominees must have been 18 years or younger when the project was completed.

To nominate or learn more, please visit www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/leshallawards. Be sure to submit your entry by 28 February 2021.

Caring for our parks and gardens

There is no doubt Division 5 includes some of the Sunshine Coast’s most stunning outdoor areas and I’d like to ask for your patience while council’s parks and gardens team work to keep them looking great.

Our region is currently experiencing high turf growth due to optimal conditions and weather and site conditions (including possible future fire risk) which may result in some delays.

Please know our dedicated team are hard at work catching up and continuing with their scheduled maintenance.
