Cr Hungerford column - Australia Day celebrations
  • Thursday 31 January 2019

Hope you all had a merry Christmas and safe New Year and are feeling refreshed and ready for a positive and productive 2019.

What better way to kick start the year than by joining in the community-minded spirit and celebrating our country at our beloved Buderim Australia Day Parade on January 26.

Attracting crowds from across the Coast, the Grand Parade starts at 9am and heads down Burnett St, ending at Buderim Mountain State School.

There are also loads of other events and activities taking place, including a hot Aussie brekkie by the Lions at Middy’s Shopping Complex, Main St at 8am and Gubbi Gubbi Dancers “Welcome to Country” display and flag raising ceremony at “The Old Post Office”, Burnett St at 8.30am.

The whole day is run by volunteers from the BWMCA in conjunction with Rotary and Buderim Lions.

Connecting our communities
As part of council’s commitment to providing and maintaining the necessary infrastructure to service the needs of the Sunshine Coast, we are currently undertaking a road reseal of Cogill Road, Buderim. Weather permitting, this should be completed tomorrow, January 25, and will allow residents and passers-by to enjoy a safer, smoother journey.
