Thank you residents of Division 7 for again placing your confidence in me to represent you for a further four years on Sunshine Coast Council.

I’m really looking forward to working hard for you over this next four years within our great area of the Sunshine Coast and also for the region as a whole through my new Portfolio within council, which is Finance and Corporate Strategy and Governance.

Did you know that Council’s response to the COVID-19 crisis has included more than $2million in financial support to local businesses? This includes $353,000 in waived community and commercial leases, $371,000 in reimbursement / waiver of fees and charges and up to $450,000 in refunds of waste collection from commercial businesses. This support has benefited more than 3,000 local business and community groups directly and more than 10,000 in-directly via business advice, support, assistance and referrals.

In addition to this, council has provided further support to local businesses and suppliers by processing our payments to these businesses within seven days rather than the usual 30 days. This has placed an average of $1.8 million earlier into the local economy each week.

Community catch-ups

Unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, I won’t be able to attend the Old Post Office on the fourth Friday of each month for our community catch-ups. Rest assured though, that these meetings will resume when health restrictions allow.  In the meantime, please feel free to contact my office on 54418257 or email ted.hungerford@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.

Business as usual, sort of

Councillors are currently working from Caloundra, ensuring we are 1.5 metres apart. High on the agenda is council’s Budget for the next financial year. If you’d like regular updates on how the budget process is tracking and for things happening in your neighbourhood, feel free to follow my Facebook page.
