School holiday activities
Sunshine Coast Libraries are renowned for their extensive school holiday program and these holidays kids can celebrate all things ‘geekish’ with a huge range of fun activities.
Local author and cartoonist Dave Hackett will be running workshops teaching children how to create their own goofy superheroes, and there’s Minecraft paper craft, science experiments and Lego challenges. There are plenty of other activities too, so visit www.library.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au for the full list and to book your spot.
Creative kids can pick from a range of ArtsCool workshops, which are on at Caloundra Gallery. These workshops are great for stretching the imagination and building artistic skills – there’s portrait painting, paper cuts and mandalas, plate painting and fantasy illustration, plus a guided tour of the Sunshine Coast Art Prize exhibition. The sessions are fully supervised and parents are not required to stay. Classes are limited to 12 students, so make sure you book online now.
Local entertainment for everyone
Sunshine Coast Venues also have a range of activities for kids and adults – whether you fancy a fun run, circus, engaging drama, comedy, dance, expos, or music. Make sure you grab a copy of the latest edition of the Sunshine Coast Venues What’s On guide for all the details on entertainment from September to December. You can also visit www.scvenuesandevents.com.au.
