Good turnout on Anzac Day
It was great to see such a big crowd at Kawana Surf Club again this year for the Anzac Day ceremony. Although a solemn event, it was a lovely service to honour all of the Australians who served and often paid the supreme sacrifice for our country. I’d like to thank all of the organisers and volunteers who help make these incredibly important ceremonies happen. Lest We Forget.

Join the National Reconciliation Week celebrations
Through the Sunshine Coast Reconciliation Action Plan, council is a proud supporter of the National Reconciliation Week events happening across the region from May 27 to June 3. The theme for 2018 is Don’t Keep History a Mystery and is an opportunity to explore our past, learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, and develop a deeper understanding of our national story. Visit council’s library website to book to attend the free screening of Zach’s Ceremony or visit council’s website for more details on National Reconciliation Week.

Meet and Greet
Join me for my next Meet and Greet at Kawana Library on Monday, May 28 from 9.30-10.30am. Please come along if you have any local government issues you would like to discuss. I will continue these sessions at Kawana Library on the last Monday of every second month.

Thank you
I just want to thank everyone for the many well wishes received following my recent hip replacement. It’s all going well.
