I’m pleased to see that the community has started sharing their thoughts on council’s Draft Options Analysis for a mass transit system for our region.
This isn’t just about the coastal corridor. Our hinterland towns also need and deserve access to an efficient public transport network, whether it be buses, trams or light rail vehicles and passenger trains.
Regrettably, we are the second most car dependent region in Australia. We’re spending far too much time in traffic congestion now, imagine what it could be like in future without a better public transport system? Not to mention the negative impact we’re having on our environment.
Through this consultation we want to hear from as many Division 1 residents as possible.
The mass transit project team will be at Beerwah Library on May 24 from 10am-noon so I encourage you to pop down, find out more and provide your input via the survey.
For those who want to dive into more detail, the full Options Analysis report is available on council’s website.
This is our best chance to make sure we get the right system for the Sunshine Coast so please fill out the survey before it closes on June 22.
