What an abnormal year 2020 has been so far. Our region, like the entire country, is facing challenging times ahead, as we better understand and recover from COVID-19. The most important thing right now is for council to help our community get back on its feet.
Now that the 2020 local government elections have been declared I would like to again thank you, the Division 1 communities, for placing your trust in me as your council representative for another term. Personally, I would also like to again acknowledge and thank my supporters, family and friends.
Division 1, like the Sunshine Coast as a whole, is a diverse community of communities.
I’m excited about the projects that will be delivered this term, from the fantastic Landsborough streetscape project that is already underway, to continuing to upgrade public infrastructure and spaces in our wonderful Glasshouse Country townships.
I’m impressed by the diversity of strengths, skills and experience amongst our new council and look forward to working together to build a connected region that continues to thrive.
I was grateful to accept the nomination by my fellow councillors to be the Deputy Mayor. This is an important symbol of recognition for the hinterland and I am honoured to be the first hinterland-based Deputy Mayor in the history of the Sunshine Coast Council.
As always, I welcome feedback from my community and I look forward to representing you during this council term.
