Council to begin new Sunshine Coast planning scheme process

In an essential partnership with the community, we will spend the next few years developing a new planning scheme, which will critically shape land use and development across our Sunshine Coast region.

Council’s next steps in a long process will require all sorts of professional and sector inputs but for me, essentially from you as knowledgeable locals. To learn more, visit council’s website and please register to receive project updates and information about future community consultation activities.

Have your say on the future of waste

Council wants to hear your feedback on a proposal to introduce an opt-out third bin for garden waste which could transition to a food and garden organics bin service, also known as a FOGO bin.

We particularly want to hear from our country town residents before any decision is made. Please take the time to fill out the online survey at haveyoursay.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/our-future-waste before 5pm, March 2.

Community Grants now open

I know 2020 had a significant financial impact on many of our community organisations, but hopefully 2021 will be much brighter. To kick things off, council’s Major Grants program is now open offering grants of up to $30,000 for infrastructure projects and up to $15,000 for other projects. Applications close March 15.
