Cr Baberowski - have you visited Landsborough lately?
  • Thursday 20 August 2020

In 2018 we started developing the Placemaking Master Plan for this historic township. We asked the community what Landsborough was known for, what they loved about the town, what they would change and what their future vision for the town would be.

That consultation led to the Community Vision for Landsborough: Landsborough continues to evolve into a vibrant, well-connected and creative community. Drawing on its past, to enrich its future; it will be a place for today’s lifestyles with a village atmosphere...

A major part of the master plan is the $3.3 million Cribb Street Streetscape Project which is currently underway.

Community involvement over the past two years has shaped the design and desired outcome for the street, which includes a beautiful and defined town core, a place for people, an authentic character and identity and a reason to visit and stay.

Telling the stories of Landsborough and its rich history through interpretation, art and the materials used are also an important part of the project.

But it’s not just council doing the work. A number of community-driven initiatives have also been undertaken including a mural artwork, heritage trail and events. Approximately 400 volunteer hours have been contributed thanks to dedicated community members, local businesses, not-for-profit organisations, Landsborough State School and a local day care.

I encourage you take a drive and see Cribb Street for yourself, pop in and support the fantastic local cafes and shops and check out the fabulous new mural by local artist Claire Matthews (aka Fuzeillear).

When construction is complete towards the end of this year, we look forward to the community and businesses continuing to lead further initiatives that will bring Cribb Street to life.
