Proposed changes to dog off-leash area
Community consultation on proposed changes to the dog off-leash area at Warana has now closed. Council will now compile survey responses over the coming week and I’ll soon be advising where to from here. This survey was in response to local residents making representations to me about a short section of beach possibly becoming on-leash. As their elected representative I needed to give them a voice, which is why we asked the wider community to have their say. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.
A new 1.8m wide concrete pathway was recently completed along Coonang Cres in Warana and work is now underway on one along Tamala St. These pathways improve connectivity to the beach and Reg White Park.
Candidates need to identify their commitments to Sunshine Coast
I would like to see state election candidates and political parties outline their commitments to ensure Sunshine Coast receives a fairer share of funding in the future, particularly for public transport infrastructure. State government infrastructure investment has not kept pace with growth and our infrastructure and facilities cannot respond to the needs of the existing, let alone the future, population. I encourage you to ask your local candidates how they will commit to improving this for our region – we cannot go without this funding any longer.
Keep an eye out for my latest divisional newsletter, which will be hitting letterboxes soon. It contains information about new council projects in your local area.
