Count on maths at your library
  • Tuesday 17 May 2011

This Friday is National Maths Day, and whether you love maths or hate maths, there’s good news – Sunshine Coast Libraries are offering free, on-demand, online tutoring.

Students are able to access free maths tutoring in partnership with the nationally popular service that connects students with an expert Australian tutor as soon as a schoolwork question comes up. There are no appointments necessary and the service is anonymous.

The online tutoring is free with a Sunshine Coast Libraries membership card, and students simply go to between 4 to 8pm.

Manager of Library and Gallery Services, Ross Duncan said while a rise in online maths tutorials was expected this Friday with National Maths Day, there would be the usual high demand for English, science, and study help tutorials as well.

"People are always surprised to find their library has become an in-depth experience. It’s an immersing cultural space for all learning, not just books and literature – although there are plenty of books to go around as well," he said.

Students around Australia have another reason to celebrate maths – with the release of the newest feature, ‘yourtutor SkillsBuilder’, which gives students and teachers tools to help with not only maths, but English and science all the way to senior high school.

Do some brain training and celebrate National Maths Day on Friday 20 May.

‘yourtutor’ and ‘yourtutor SkillsBuilder’ are services by Tutoring Australasia, Sydney-based and Australian-owned, and Australia's leading provider of online tutoring and e-learning services.
