Media are invited to a photo and interview opportunity to meet members of LEAC (Lions Emergency Accommodation Centre), the charity set to benefit from the inaugural “Coolum Fiesta”, an event being held on Friday 11 December 2009.
Visitors to the event are being encouraged to bring along a present to drop into the boxes onsite, with all proceeds going to LEAC for children and families in crisis at Christmas. The donations are part of a community celebration taking place following the official opening of the new Coolum Retail Precinct by Watpac Development, which will incorporate the official opening of a new shelter at Pt Perry at 4.15pm, along with the lighting of an all new community Christmas Tree at 7pm.
Cr Vivien Griffin will officiate at both the Pt Perry and Christmas Tree lighting events, whilst MP Fiona Simpson will join with Coolum Primary School students to sing a Christmas carol tribute.
The Coolum Fiesta is presented by Coolum Business and Tourism Association, with the support of Watpac, the Sunshine Coast Council, Coolum Cliffs Boardwalk committee, Coolum Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, Coolum State School, Coolum Residents Association and Coolum Beach Bowls Club.
The event will be part of what is shaping up to be a thrilling week-long celebration in Coolum. The Surf Lifesaving club will also be celebrating after over six months of renovations, with a series of special events leading up to a December 12 official opening by Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan.
Add the prestigious PGA tournament at the Hyatt Regency Coolum to the mix, and the result is bound to be a spectacular start to the festive season.
President of Coolum Business and Tourism, Judy Osborne will join Cr Vivien Griffin, members of the Pantastic Steel Band and the LEAC group for interviews and photos from 10am on Friday 4 December.
