The 27 winners of the 21st Sunshine Coast Business Awards have been announced at a gala celebration attended by over 550 guests at the Wandiny Room at Twin Waters Resort.
The winners were selected from more than188 finalists and received awards for business, tourism, individual and a range of new excellence awards for key aspects of business.
In congratulating each of the finalists and winners, Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said: “Once again it is fantastic to see firsthand the high calibre, innovative and progressive business community we have here on our Sunshine Coast.
"It is inspiring and rewarding to hear the stories of each of the finalists and award winners, for them it is a very significant achievement to be here and receive the accolades they deserve.”
SCBA Chair, Ross Hepworth said the quality of entrants this year was second to none.
“The quality and diversity of the entries across each of the awards was exceptional which made our job so much harder," Mr Hepworth said.
"It is fantastic to see so many passionate and motivated professionals locally who are building a solid future for the Sunshine Coast.”
The highest scoring business across all categories receiving Business of the Year was ComLink, serving residents on the Sunshine Coast since 1987 the registered charity provides transport and care services for the elderly, transport disadvantaged and young people with disabilities.
Typefi Systems won the Innovation award for their publishing platform that fully integrates print, online and mobile production in a seamless end to end automated workflow. The company also went home with the Technology award.
Glenview’s Radaqua was victorious in the Export category for the second year in a row for its seafood production systems and aquatic environment technology solutions for marine and freshwater applications.
Taking out the Professional Services category was Caloundra’s Avenue Dental while the Ausmar Group went home with accolades for Customer Service and Engagement.
Fresh Box impressed the SCBA judges, taking home two awards – the Agribusiness award and the Business Sustainability award. Fresh Box delivers locally grown, organic and nutrient dense food to locals across the Sunshine Coast.
Innovate Media took out the Creative Industries award for their production of engaging online video content powered by clever online marketing strategy, embracing the changing landscape of digital media to empower their clients to implement online video strategically as part of their overall marketing plan.
The Building and Manufacturing award went to Fencepac, specialising in the construction of large scale fencing contracts for all types of commercial and civil projects throughout Australia Fencepac prepares a personalised approach to each project, and seamlessly deliver a precise, reliable and secure solution that fits their client’s needs and expectations.
Sunshine Coast Haematology and Oncology Clinic took home the Health, Wellbeing and Lifestyle Services award. It is the first free standing Day Hospital in Queensland specifically established for the treatment of haematology and oncology patients.
The region’s tourism businesses continued to triumph with Beerwah’s Australia Zoo being awarded the Tourism Attractions award. Caloundra’s Rumba Beach Resort gained the Tourism Accommodation – more than ten room’s award, Noosa River Canal & Cruises won the Tourism Tours award and the Noosa Festival of Surfing received the Tourism Festivals and Events award.
The Coast’s Brightwater Hotel received the Food & Beverage award while ab fab – The Stress Free Movers were awarded the Retail award.
This year’s Not for Profit winner was Compass Institute for their award winning service that uses an innovative, educational model allowing a smooth transition from school or home environment into an increasingly independent future where dignity of life is paramount. Compass Institute was also awarded the Social Responsibility award.
Neil Collie of Rebel Sport and David Dangerfield of Compass Institute were honoured with the Outstanding Employee of the Year and Leadership titles respectively.
The Outstanding Business Person of the Year was awarded to Andrew Eves-Brown of Gourmet Garden.
Hinterland Feijoas and Perfect Earth were inducted to the Hall of Fame.
