Did you know the Coast’s premier arthouse cinema, screening the best in arthouse, foreign and independent films from around the world is located at Sunshine Coast Council’s Nambour Civic Centre?
Once inside the Arthouse Cinema Nambour you will be greeted by an intimate setting where you can immerse yourself in the magic of cinema.
The Arthouse Café gives patrons the opportunity to relax with popcorn, cold drink, coffee or an alcoholic beverage, all of which can be taken into the cinema to enjoy.
The installation of the new lift from Centenary Square also makes for easier access for patrons with limited mobility.
The cinema currently screens Friday, Saturday and Sundays, but due to public demand it will now also begin screening during the week.
As an extension of the already low prices offered at Arthouse Cinema Nambour, the community will now be able to attend ‘Cheap Tuesday’ sessions for only $9 per ticket.
Ticket prices to the weekend sessions continue to be very affordable at only $14 for adults, $11 for students and concession cardholders and there are discounts and other benefits for members of the popular Film Club.
Head along to the Arthouse Cinema Nambour every Tuesday at 2.30pm and get in for just $9. On Tuesday, September 9 you can watch the powerful Australian film, Charlie’s Country.
Written by Rolf De Heer and David Gulpilil as a collaborative project, Charlie’s Country stars Gulpilil as Charlie, who is getting older, and is out of sorts.
The Government’s intervention and ‘whitefella’ policing is making life more difficult in his remote community, so Charlie decides to take off to live in the old way but in doing so sets off a chain of events that has him return to his community chastened and wiser.
