Thousands of people around the world will be introduced to Caloundra Music Festival and the Sunshine Coast next month when one of Australia’s top ‘Instagrammers’ attends the festival.
Pauly Vella will showcase the ‘sun, surf and soul’ of CMF to over 300,000 followers when he hosts an Instameet organised by Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL).
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said Pauly’s attendance was a great opportunity for people to see what the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
“Caloundra Music Festival is the perfect opportunity for photographers to point their lenses and these photos are great exposure for the region,” Cr Dwyer said.
“The beautiful Kings Beach location makes for great photos – the festival is always full of colour, great artists and happy people, and has a fantastic friendly vibe.
“Events like Caloundra Music Festival not only provide a boost for the local economy while they are on, but also help promote the Sunshine Coast to attract visitors year-round.”
Tourism, Sport and Major Events portfolio councillor Jason OPray said local events were increasingly profiled on social media.
“We’ve recently hosted IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast, the Real Food Festival and a range of other events which have seen social media swarmed with fantastic photos of the Coast,” Cr OPray said.
“Residents and visitors alike upload their snaps every time a major event is on – they post athletes and chefs, food and fun, and most importantly the beautiful landscapes and weather that make our region what it is.
“Social media is a great addition to the traditional media exposure these events generate – the statistics around social media usage and the exposure it delivers are truly incredible.”
The instameet organised by SCDL will take place near the festival site at 5.30pm on Saturday October 4, with participants adding to the collection of CMF photos on Instagram. Everyone is invited to attend.
Pauly will also attend CMF on Sunday October 5 to further capture the event.
Festival-goers are encouraged to hashtag their photos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with #caloundramusicfestival and #sunshinecoast.
