Calling all innovators and job creators

During one week each November, Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) inspires people to explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.

Now in its eighth year, GEW will run from November 16-22 across 125 countries and will involve around 34,000 activities that engage millions of participants.

New and Emerging Industries Portfolio Councillor Stephen Robinson said budding local entrepreneurs could get their fix at a number of exciting events across the Sunshine Coast next week.

“Entrepreneurs and innovation are a key to our future and that is why Sunshine Coast Council has invested and is rolling out the Smart City Framework, supported the Digital Sunshine Coast program and worked with industry to develop and deliver a Knowledge and Professional Services Industry and Investment Plan under the Regional Economic Development Strategy,” Cr Stephen Robinson said.

“Global Tech Entrepreneur Danny Maher from Silicon Valley in the US will kick off the week with a  guest presentation at the Innovation Centre on Tuesday.

“Mr Maher is a global tech entrepreneur with extensive knowledge on creating and building businesses to commercialise technology. He’s built a number of successful tech companies around the world was named 2015

Australian CEO of the year – so this is a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of the very best.

“The Spark Bureau at Maroochydore will have its grand opening as part of GEW and this new co-working centre will play host to council’s Hackfest from Friday November 20-22.”
