  • Friday 17 February 2017

Calling all creative artists and musicians who would like to bring the sun, surf and soul vibes to Caloundra Music Festival (CMF) in 2017!

Artist applications for the 11th annual CMF are now open and will close at midday on March 10.

This year’s festival is on September 29–October 2, 2017.

CMF Festival Director Richie Eyles said fans had come to expect they’ll discover amazing new local acts at the festival.

“Over the past 10 years, CMF has built a strong reputation for nurturing and showcasing some amazing local talent and providing countless opportunities for many local artists”, Mr Eyles said.

“In recent years we’ve run the CMF Emerging Youth Artist Mentoring and Promotion program, which allows us to take advantage of the high calibre musicians in town for CMF who would otherwise be unreachable for mentoring opportunities.

“We’re always looking at ways to enhance the knowledge, experience and networks of our local emerging artists and help them  moving forward in their careers.”

Sunshine Coast Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said CMF’s support of local artists and musicians was an important legacy of the festival.

“CMF has contributed a number of outstanding legacy items to the local community including new infrastructure, ground breaking sustainable initiatives and amazing opportunities for local artists,” Cr Dwyer said.

Testament to opportunities provided by CMF is local Alexandra Headlands musician Dan Horne.

Dan’s performance at the 2016 CMF was noticed by local talent scouts who suggested his song would be perfect for an upcoming marketing campaign.

His song This Town was officially released today and features on the new Visit Sunshine Coast national marketing campaign.

Due to the overwhelming number of applications and the nature of programming, offers to bands and artists for slots on the festival program will be made in multiple rounds between March and May.

CMF is renowned for being a family friendly beach festival with a hard earned reputation for presenting quality and eclectic acts which appeal to a wide range of music lovers – in all age groups.
