Sunshine Coast Council is again presenting the opportunity for local businesses to participate in the Get Up to Speed program aimed at helping them operate their businesses online and succeed online.
The first round of the program – which was conducted in March - was a resounding success and so council is pleased to offer the program to local businesses once again.
Council Economic Development/digital portfolio holder, Cr Stephen Robinson, said Get Up to Speed provided local business owners and managers with an awareness of the opportunities available through digital solutions like the NBN.
"The program helps local businesses develop critical skills and knowledge of current and emerging digital technologies and how they can help their business to grow," he said.
"The digital age is here to stay and we want all of our 34,500 local businesses to be up to speed on today’s ways of doing business competitively."
Zoe Scrogings, who runs Sunshine Coast-based Holy Cow Creative and is heavily involved in the Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance signed up to Get Up To Speed in March and can’t believe the value she is getting from being a part of it.
"I own a micro business with no other employees to help," she said.
"I needed to learn how to build my own website and build my business’s online presence. Get Up To Speed gives me the tools and understanding I need to move my business forward. With the way things are heading in business, I think everyone should participate in this course – it is the way of the future."
Similarly, Sunshine Coast publisher Sarah Pye said she benefited in more ways than she ever imagined from taking part in the program.
Get Up to Speed will feature one live event, weekly webinars, weekly eLessons, a private Facebook group, a dedicated online resource portal and access to mentors.
Whilst the course content will be provided over a 12-week period, participants will be able to access the program resources for up to 12 months.
Places in the program are available at an extremely affordable $250 and are expected to fill up fast. A rebate of $175 is also conditionally available to participants who purchase an internet-enabled device to enhance their participation in the program.
