Business Survey

The latest Sunshine Coast Business Survey has been released, asking local businesses for their input on a range of topics about current business conditions in the region.

The Sunshine Coast Council-supported survey, which has been undertaken annually since 2008, provides local information to support businesses and government organisations with decision making.

It includes sections on current and expected business performance and growth, and possible constraints on local businesses such as the impacts of increasing energy prices.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said the findings from the previous surveys revealed a positive sentiment among businesses on the Sunshine Coast, however it was important to understand what current impacts businesses are experiencing.

“The annual survey allows us to keep up-to-date with developments shaping our economy, such as rising energy costs which are a particular focus of this year’s survey so we can understand the impact they have on our local businesses,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“It will also provide us insights into future opportunities or strategies needed to assist local business.

“I would encourage all businesses – small, medium and large – to complete the survey as it’s important to get a good understanding across the region.

“The results from the survey help us understand what role we can play in helping businesses grow and succeed on the Sunshine Coast to ensure we build a sustainable economy.”

Sunshine Coast Chamber Alliance president Michael Shadforth urged all businesses to get involved and complete the survey.

“The survey provides an accurate picture on what issues, constraints and opportunities exist on Sunshine Coast,” Mr Shadforth said.

“To continue to prosper, we, as a business community, need to share our experiences and engage with one another.

“The results provide valuable local information all businesses can use for their future planning and decision making.

“If we can measure it, we can improve it.”

The survey will remain open throughout November and participation is anonymous.
