Buderim Resource and Recovery centre temporary shutdown

Faster customer service and improved efficiency will result following upgrades to the Buderim waste landfill centre at Syd Lingard Drive.

A relocation of the current weighbridge as well as the installation of a second weighbridge will take place at the facility in the coming weeks.

Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said while the works take place, the centre, including the recycle markets, would need to temporarily close at midday Friday 6 July but will reopen on Saturday morning 7 July.

“The centre will also close again a week later on Monday 16 July,” he said.

“These temporary closures are necessary for safety reasons while large cranes swing the 20m long weighbridge decks and gantries into place.”

Cr Dickson said the works would greatly improve operations and enhance the overall experience for customers using the centre.

“Adding a second weighbridge will help process customer transactions more quickly and help eliminate the queues experienced when only a single weighbridge is operating,” he said.

“This facility is very popular and while council understands the temporary closure will cause some inconvenience, the end result will be a terrific one for customers.”

A large digital sign will be installed at the entrance to the centre to notify the public of the various changes that will impact upon them as the works proceed.
