Buderim’s first district-level park has an official name – Buderim Village Park.
The title was unanimously endorsed by council at Wednesday’s Ordinary Meeting.
Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said it reflected the theme of Buderim.
“Buderim has a genuine village feel and I’m confident the local community will enjoy seeing this reflected in the name of their outstanding new recreation park,” he said.
“To assist council in identifying an appropriate name for this park, a public consultation and advertising program was conducted late last year.
Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said a total of 64 naming proposals were submitted by the community.
“In January of this year a park naming panel considered these proposals and short-listed six possible names for consideration by council,” he said.
“Like Cr Dickson, I am very pleased that this picturesque 3.4 hectare parcel of land on the corner of Church and King Streets will now be known as ‘Buderim Village Park’”.
Council recently completed stage one works on Buderim Village Park that included a community green and kick about area, garden beds, a new footpath and Poinciana street tree planting.
The development of the park will continue to occur in a number of stages over several years. The rate and extent of implementation will be subject to securing funding for future stages.
