This beautiful and highly unusual flower is in bloom at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens at Tanawha.
The plant produces a single flower which appears for one day only.
There are several of these plants growing wild near the Whipbird Walk Sensory Garden so you may get a chance to witness this unusual event this week.
The small bolwarra (Eupomatia bennettii) is an ancient and primitive species that was around before bees and is pollinated by weevils.
