If you're looking for something green, educational and creative to do this Easter holidays, head to the new Rainforest Discovery Centre at Mary Cairncross Reserve for the Art with Fungi and Flora holiday workshop program

Take a closer look at the fascinating world of fungi, mushrooms and plants in these fun-filled activities running from April 4 through to April 13.

The Art with Fungi and Flora holiday workshop program offers children and young people a range of inspiring sessions with local artists and fungi fanatics, who use creativity and culture to explore the brilliant biodiversity of the Sunshine Coast.

Kids can become fungi eco-detectives and find out what makes mushrooms grow, learn to make paper using seeds or how to decorate Easter eggs using plant dyes- budding artists can even craft their own fungi sculptures, learn to paint brilliant swamp orchids or capture the rainforest in mono-print.

Workshops will be held throughout the holidays at both the newly opened Rainforest Discovery Centre, Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and also at the Arts and Ecology Centre, Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens.

Budding artists will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian and registrations are essential.

Spaces for these wonderful workshops do fill up quickly, so jump online and book your place by visiting council's What's On page here you will find full details of individual session times.

Full printed programs are available at your nearest Sunshine Coast Council library, gallery or Customer Service Centre.
