SLSC 863389Each day this week we continue to pay tribute to our sea saviours for their years of service.

Arthur Parkyn joined his beloved Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club just before his 15th birthday in 1926.

An outstanding competitor, he later became an administrator, instructor and examiner and for more than 30 years he contributed to lifesaving, serving in many capacities.

He was the club captain for six years, boat captain one year, chief instructor four years and president for six years.

Arthur was awarded life member status with the Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club, Sunshine Coast Branch Surf Life Saving, Queensland Surf Life Saving, Australia Surf Life Saving and United States Surf Life Saving Association and is a member of the Sunshine Coast Sports Hall of Fame.

Thanks to Sunshine Coast Council’s Heritage Library Officers for the words and Picture Sunshine Coast for the images.
