It started with a suggestion by a member of the Twin Waters Residents’ Association at the Sunshine Coast Airport’s Community and Aviation forum in June and it quickly became a reality, thanks to a proactive Councillor, enthusiastic forum members and funding from the Sunshine Coast Airport.
The outcome: on the northern airport fence line, along the David Low Way, a row of bougainvilleas will be planted to match the already established plants on the southern fence line.
“The airport commends the forum member who suggested this improvement and we applaud our local councillor for her positive assistance in driving this successful outcome,” Mr Pallot said.
Local Division 8 Councillor Debbie Blumel said that the northern airport fence currently provides very little visual amenity to the gateway from the airport to the northern beaches. Cr Blumel praised the initiative describing it as a ‘win-win’ for the local community and the airport.
