A ton of new business at Innovation Centre – and more to come

Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson has congratulated the Innovation Centre at University of the Sunshine Coast on signing its one-hundredth client company.

The Mayor joined State Science, Innovation, Technology and the Arts Minister Ian Walker to open the office for 100th client newNRG, and for a “100 companies” celebration.

“The Sunshine Coast is one of the best places to do business in the 21st century – and the Innovation Centre is one of the best places to start a new business,” Mayor Mark Jamieson said.

“Under CEO Mark Paddenburg’s leadership, now more than 100 new businesses, creating some 420 jobs, have incubated and taken wing at the centre, and its reputation is known far and wide.

“It’s a challenging business to set up a new company anywhere, but the Innovation Centre not only provides the support and encouragement to ensure success, it also equips that new company with the latest in technology.

“As the Sunshine Coast re-shapes itself to host a more diverse economy, the Innovation Centre holds a special place in that endeavour.

“And as the primary crucible for birthing new smart businesses on the Coast, I can only see its role increasing in significance.

“I congratulate the Innovation Centre on its achievements to date and say: keep up the great work.”
