If you operate a tourism business in the Sunshine Coast Council area, you’re invited to showcase your business at the inaugural SCouT: Sunshine Coast Big Day Out for Tourism Operators on Wednesday, June 6.
This tourism exchange-style event, hosted by the Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) Tourism, Sport and Leisure Taskforce at the Lake Kawana Community Centre, will be an opportunity for local tourism operators to showcase their product and meet with other local businesses.
Tourism, Sport and Major Events Portfolio Councillor Jason O’Pray said the exchange was a great way for local operators to learn about what’s in their own backyard.
“Industry leaders in the Tourism, Sport and Leisure Taskforce identified that local tourism business would benefit from an opportunity to showcase their products and hear from other local operators,” Cr O’Pray said.
“This will be a unique opportunity for our local tourism businesses to potentially grow referrals to their business, discover new collaboration opportunities and hear from a range of leaders in the tourism industry.
“We’re hoping that through this event local businesses discover new opportunities to cooperate with other operators or determine new ways to innovate their product offering.”
Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Simon Latchford encouraged Sunshine Coast tourism businesses to attend the one-day tourism exchange and summit.
“We are thrilled to support the Taskforce in their hosting of this exciting one-day tourism program,” Mr Latchford said.
“This is the first time this type of event has been staged for local tourism businesses.
“It will be a ‘must attend’ tourism event on the calendar which has been made accessible for all eligible tourism businesses, with no cost associated with attending.
“The day will also feature presentations by high-profile leaders from the Australian and New Zealand tourism industry who have not previously presented on the Sunshine Coast.”
Eligible tourism businesses can book a booth, free of charge, or attend to view the presentations. For more information, visit events.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
The event will be held at the Lake Kawana Community Centre from 9.30am – 4pm
