As a result of impacts from COVID-19 council has spoken to many businesses in a variety of industries who have reported confusion, anxiety and uncertainty surrounding their business due to the overload of information, multiple economic stimulus packages and increasing business and social distancing restrictions. Businesses have reported not knowing how or where to start, as a result of this council has implemented the Professional Advice Support Program.
About the program
Council will fund the Professional Advice Support Program which is designed to connect critically impacted local businesses to confidential professional advice to support them through the business impacts resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. Eligible businesses will be able to access up to one (1) hour of professional advice at no charge in three categories:
- Accounting and insolvency
- Human resources
- Legal services.
How to access the program
This is a temporary program that provides limited funding directly to professional advisors that you engage under the Program, so that a business can obtain access to professional support. To access the Professional Advice Support Program, local businesses need to complete a short, easy to fill out Expression of Interest form to confirm their eligibility. On approval, Council will connect businesses with the professional support they seek. Please note that funding is limited and not all businesses may receive funding (for example, due to high demand).
Access to the Professional Advice Support Program is subject to applicant eligibility and the availability of Council resources. The Professional Advice Support Program is a temporary program that may cease at short notice. The professional advice consultation will take place via phone or video conference.
To be eligible for the program, businesses must meet the following criteria:
- Must be located within the Sunshine Coast Council Local Government Area
- Have an active Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Employ between 0-19 staff
- Annual Turnover of less than $5m
- Have no access to professional advice
- In need of immediate critical support to sustain their business
Where to from here
If you are a business applying for support please complete the simple Expression of interest form and submit for assessment. Your application will be assessed and you will be contacted by one of our team within 48-hours to advise if your business is eligible for this program. A council representative will contact you should we need to clarify any additional information.
