  • Resurgence taskforce launches
    3 July 2020

    Sunshine Coast business leaders have joined forces with council to advise on the delivery of the Sunshine Coast Economic Resurgence Plan, which is part of Tranche 3 of council's COVID-19 economic stimulus package. The group is charged with overseeing the delivery of council’s third economic stimulus package and providing ongoing support to local businesses as they seek to recover from the impacts of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).   • Take advantage of free business training
    9 July 2020

    Through the Queensland Small Business Skills Hub small business owners, startups and their staff now have a great opportunity to access over 500 highly relevant online courses, ranging from a few minutes to an hour, for FREE until December 2020. To access the free courses, eligible small business owners with an ABN registered in Queensland and a team of 20 or less staff can register at www.qldskills.com.au

  • Can your business get cleaner and greener?

    Are you looking to get a business edge, save on bills, protect our amazing natural assets and support your customers’ desires? Customers are seeking cleaner greener products as we move forward. Sunshine Coast food manufacturer Epicurean Products has recently partnered with Queensland business PlanetArk Power to install 240 solar panels at its Yandina factory, as a result 25% of their delicious sauces are powered by the Sunshine Coast sun. This year Epicurean Products will invest more than $4 million supporting contractors and suppliers from the Sunshine Coast and across regional Queensland, and EP employs more than 30 local residents. They are currently undertaking a number of sustainability projects with a focus on reducing packaging waste and increasing he development of plant based and organic products. They encourage all Sunshine Coast businesses to become cleaner and greener while generating a return for their business. The program will be delivered in a live-streamed online format, which will include 12 one-hour workshops delivered over 12 weeks, and is scheduled to commence 28 July.  Program participants walk away with a Certificate IV in Small Business Management, plus a focused business action plan, including marketing, finance and implementation plans.

  • Grant support on offer
    1 July 2020

    Rural agricultural business with the opportunity to share in $10 million worth of grants to help fund job-creating projects across the state have until 10 July to submit their interest. Co-contribution grants of up to $250,000 are available for food and agricultural businesses to support ‘shovel-ready’ projects that create jobs for value added primary production and provide significant economic benefits to rural and regional communities.

  • Change makers challenge Coast businesses

    A powerful, online conversation series challenging Sunshine Coast business leaders to shift their sights and change their habits to a circular economy approach kicks off this week.     The Queensland Government has launched free online training for small businesses and employees. More than 400 free training courses will be available to Queenslanders through two portals - The Queensland Small Business Skills Hub and The Skills Focus Queensland portal.   • Find funding support today
    3 June 2020

    Head to Sunshine Coast Funding Finder to apply for more than $133.6 billion worth of grants. If you search “COVID-19” it will show you 47 grants available for you to apply for today. Due to COVID-19, there has been a 65 per cent increase in searches on the Funding Finder website. The website also assists with advice and top tips for finding and applying for grants to maximise your chances of receiving the funding you need, or you can get help in the RDA Sunshine Coast grant webinar.

  • Cyber security boost
    2 June 2020

    To further cement our region as a technology industry leader, the Sunshine Coast has landed a Cyber Security Innovation Node, one of only two regional nodes appointed in the country. Supporting the Sunshine Coast International Broadband Network and Cable Landing Station, this role will deliver increased cyber security capability, talent and education programs across the region, as well as fast-tracking cyber security exports internationally.
