Noosa Day Respite Centre
The Noosa Day Respite Centre assists frail and elderly people and younger people with disabilities with their day-to-day living. The centre provides basic maintenance and support services to clients and their carers, assisting clients to continue living independently in their community.
The Noosa Day Respite Centre has a wide variety of services on offer for its clients and their carers.
- Centre-based day care from 8.45 am to 4 pm, providing social interaction for the resident and respite for the carer. Services such as hairdressing, physiotherapy or pedicures are available during this time. Client transport to and from the centre can also be arranged.
- Allied health services, such as physiotherapy, speech pathology or podiatry.
- Home maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs or replacing tap washers.
- Home modifications, such as the installation of rails and ramps or hand held showers.
- Social support, which enables clients to do their grocery shopping with a volunteer’s assistance. The Noosa Day Respite Centre organises transport for these outings. If a client is unable to leave their home, we can do tasks such as banking and shopping on the client’s behalf.
- Assistance with personal care in the client's home, such as eating, bathing and dressing.
- Counselling and support for both the client and their carer.
- A carer support group meets at the centre on the third Tuesday of each month at 1.30pm
- Transport to medical appointments can be arranged for a small fee.
Respite Care in the home is available to enable the carer to have time off from their caring role. The carer may remain in the home or leave the home. A staff member, suitably experienced to the client's condition, substitutes for the carer in their absence.
