Lions Park Noosa Parade Noosa HeadsThe refurbishment and upgrade of Noosa Lions Parks aims to create a safe and usable public open space area that is high quality, comfortable, accessible and legible. The project recognises that the park provides a significant staging facility for a limited number of events, and aims to incorporate treatments that assist effective event staging, as well as a broader public benefit. Project scope Council developed a landscape concept plan for the park in order to define the future improvements and upgrade of this valuable river foreshore parkland. Project update Recent upgrades include new picnic and barbecue shelters and improvements to the Noosa Parade footpath. During the 2011-2012 financial year, council completed the first two stages including electrical upgrades and drainage improvements. These improvements ensure that the park is usable after it rains. Where to from here Council has developed a staging plan based on the comments and priorities identified by the community in earlier engagement activities. The development of the park will occur over many years. The rate and extent of implementation is subject to the amount of funding available each year. Updates on the implementation of the landscape concept plan will be made available on this website. In 2011, the Noosa community were invited to share ideas and shape the vision for Noosa Lions Park. A combination of community engagement activities were undertaken including a questionnaire, "Meet us in the Park" held on 5 March 2011 and stakeholder interviews. Submissions closed on 18 March 2011. The outcomes from the community engagement activities were used to guide the design process. Council carefully evaluated the submissions and developed a draft landscape concept plan for additional comment. Submissions closed on 9 December 2011. The comments that were received were carefully considered in finalising the landscape concept plan.

Background Noosa Lions Park is a significant land parcel of 1.9ha, located on the corner of Noosa Drive and Noosa Parade, Noosa Heads. The site encompasses a large, open, grassed area framed by vegetation along the embankment of Noosa Hill. Noosa Lions Park is most notably known as a staging area for several large community events that are hosted in the park each year. These include the Noosa Triathlon, Noosa Food and Wine Festival, Noosa Winter Festival and Noosa Classic Car Show.
