Maroochy River Recovery

The Maroochy River Recovery (MRR) was initiated by the former Maroochy council in 2004 in response to an alarming 'D' Report Card rating as a result of the south-east Queensland regional Ecosystem Health Monitoring Program.

The program’s report cards show the following overall results since 2000:

Through significant investment over the last four years, the MRR project has overseen a range of initiatives [PDF 64KB] to improve the landscapes and waterways of the Maroochy River catchment.

Award winning project
By national and international standards the Maroochy River Recovery is still in its infancy having been in place for approximately 4 years. Within that short time, the awards and commendations from industry groups and professional associations are testimony to:

  • the calibre of the project’s scientific underpinning
  • its targeted approach
  • quality of deliverables.

Phase 2 - A Partnership Prospectus

The Maroochy River Recovery Phase 2 Partnership Prospectus provides a three-year rolling action plan as a basis for new partnerships and stakeholder investment decisions. It ensures the Maroochy River Recovery momentum is maintained whilst a comprehensive Maroochy River Plan is being formulated in conjunction with community stakeholders.
