Lost and Found Animals
If council impounds a roaming pet dog or cat, everything possible is done to identify and return the pet to its registered home. If no one is home, if the pet is not registered, or if an owner has not been identified, the pet will be taken to one of the council’s pounds (see below for contact information).
If you have lost a pet, you can search for it using the on-line search facility. This search facility only covers the council’s pound at Tanawha which services the Caloundra and Maroochy areas. If you have lost a pet in the Noosa area, contact council’s pound at Noosaville (see below for contact information).
If you have found a stray pet, you may contact council's customer service centre and arrange for a council officer to collect it. Please note that the animal must be suitably restrained or contained so it doesn't escape before it is impounded by council.
Cages are available from council at no cost if you wish to impound dogs or cats roaming onto your property and causing a nuisance. For further information on this service please contact the Pound directly.
