General Waste Bin Collection
Council provides a weekly domestic general waste collection service to Sunshine Coast residents. Find the collection day for your green lid general waste bin.
Green-lidded bins are for general household waste only, such as food waste and plastic bags. They are not suitable for recyclables or garden waste. These items should instead be placed in your recycling bin or garden waste bin.
Waste collection charges
General waste bin collection fees [PDF 37KB] (see extract from Revenue Statement 7.4 Calculation of Charge) are paid as part of your council rates. To find out how much your bin collection service costs each year, view council's Revenue Policy [PDF 38KB] Revenue Statement Part A [PDF 339KB] and Revenue Statement Part B [PDF 3.5MB]. .
Waste bin collection guidelines

- hazardous, chemical, or medical waste
- building waste
- car parts
- recyclables

- If the bin contents exceed 70 kilograms, it cannot be emptied.
- All items placed in the bin should fit loosely so the bin empties easily.
- The bin lid must be able to close completely.
- Lightweight materials such as grass clippings or vacuum cleaner dust should be contained in a plastic bag.
- Place your bin within 50 centimetres of the roadsie, with lid handles facing the road and wheels facing away from the road.
