Sunshine Coast Cemeteries recognise that attention to detail makes a difference and offer the following services.

Burial services

• Burial services are available each day of the week. Special arrangements apply for weekend services.
• Funeral Directors have access to after hours services for all bookings and enquiries.
• Chairs and shade are provided for convenience and comfort.
• Computerised records make access to burial details quick and convenient.
• Historical records of burials are readily available from the computerised system.

An outdoor chapel within the grounds of the Kulangoor Cemetery is available for public use, it provides an alternative location to an indoor church or chapel service.

Plaques and memorials

The cemetery office at the Kulangoor Memorial Sanctuary has a comprehensive display of plaques and memorial products for sale. Our staff are happy to assist and guide you with your selection. Sunshine Coast Cemeteries will also arrange for the installation of the product of your choice. As a guide, eight weeks should be allowed for the manufacture and placement of a plaque on a grave. To ensure our representative is available, please phone the cemetery office to make an appointment to order your headstone or plaque.

The care and maintenance of plaques, memorials and monuments is the responsibility of the family or representative of the deceased. However, you are encouraged to talk to the professional staff at Sunshine Coast Cemeteries about their cleaning, painting and restoration services.

Frequently asked questions

Sunshine Coast Cemeteries have compiled the following information in response to commonly asked questions.

• Graves are prepared to enable the interment of two adults. After the first interment, cremation ashes may also be placed in the grave.
• Fresh flowers may be placed on graves. Artificial flowers, tins, jars and other containers are not permitted.
• The planting of trees or shrubs near the grave is also not permitted.
• Only one plaque may be placed on a gravesite. As plaques and memorials are installed on solid ground, their placement can be arranged soon after the burial.
• The ordering of plaques and memorials may only be arranged by the person who purchased the gravesite, handled the burial arrangements or is an authorised person or Executor.
• Full payment is required prior to the final order being placed for the memorial.  Payments can be made at Australia Post, by telephone, online, by mail or by cash or cheque at Council's Customer Service Centres (refer to your invoice once issued for details). 
• All monumental work in the cemeteries is to be performed by qualified masons.
