Art Spaces

The Sunshine Coast is home to an array of creative centres, from open-air public art displays to contemporary art galleries.

Caloundra City Public Art Gallery

The Caloundra City Public Art Gallery is an online collection of Caloundra’s outdoor and open-space artwork. This online display features 23 outdoor art displays, ranging from striking coastal totem poles to fun and fanciful water fountains with a difference.

Caloundra Regional Art Gallery

Since the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery opened in 2000, it has become an integral part of the Caloundra community.

It is home to curated art shows and touring exhibitions, and also hosts seminars, forums and events that educate the community and assist local artists.

Noosa Regional Gallery

The Noosa Regional Gallery is known nationally for its innovative exhibitions, programs and events involving local and international contemporary artists.

Its workshop program offers artists and designers a host of hands-on opportunities to develop their professional practice in new and exciting ways.

Take a piece of the gallery home with you from the busy gallery shop, including locally handcrafted glassware, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, woodworked pieces and cards.

The Butter Factory Arts Centre

The Butter Factory Arts Centre is a multi-faceted facility in Cooroy, offering numerous services and spaces for creative activities and events.

Exhibition program

The Butter Factory plays host a variety of art and cultural installations, which the community is encouraged and welcome to visit.

The purpose of The Butter Factory's exhibition program is to stimulate interest in the arts and enhance the cultural diversity of the hinterland. Some of The Butter Factory's recent exhibitions include Totally Nude, From Forest to Factory and Mealtime Memories.

The Butter Factory has two venues for hire as exhibition spaces for the presentation of two and three-dimensional art.

Artists’ Resource Lounge

This is a place for artists and community members to meet, research, read or simply relax.

A selection of current arts-themed magazines is available, as well as online subscriptions to art-affiliated media. Free internet access is also available for use.

Display space

Aspiring artists who don’t want to commit to a full-blown exhibition can utilise our more intimate Resource Lounge display space. Simply contact The Butter Factory on (07) 5472 0222 for further information.

Artist advice

Friendly and professional staff are available to provide information and advice on project planning and funding opportunities.

The Workshop

Home to our resident artists, who have a wealth of experience in ceramics, painting, sculpting and mosaics.

Our resident artists include local luminaries such as Mal Butterworth, Monika Jungling and Susie Blue. They are available to share their expertise with emerging artists through tutoring or mentoring programs.

Programs and professional development

The Butter Factory hosts a variety of art-inspired community events, forums and celebrations, such as the Shout Out Loud youth arts festival. Contact the Butter Factory for a current program.
